Kalmir Ak-Adar - Naib of Sietch Rajji
Two things are of unsurpassed importance to Naib Kalmir Ak-Adar: the wellbeing of his Sietch, and of his family, in that order precisely.
Once part of a large extended family, Kalmir was 26 years old when his father and four older brothers were ambushed and slaughtered by Harkonnens. This left Sietch Rajji without a Naib, and despite his relative youth Kalmir placed a claim on the position, fed by a burning desire for revenge. He was challenged by several others, all defeated, and although his eventual ascension could not be contested under Fremen law, there were those among the Sietch members who did not like the fact that the leadership of the tribe remained in the hands of the Ak-Adar family for another generation. Despite this, Kalmir is generally well-regarded and respected as a leader, and none can question his loyalty to the tribe.
A few years after Kalmir had been appointed Naib of Sietch Rajji, tragedy struck his family on several other occasions, which in the end left only his sisters Farah and Lichna alive. This embittered the Naib even further, causing him to become extremely protective of his two remaining sisters, one primed for her future role as Sayyadina, another training to be a Healer. The rest of the tribe, particularly young men hoping to wed either of them, are often met with the Naib's uncompromising suspicion where Farah and Lichna are concerned and to try and harm them would mean certain death. This attitude, although discouraging to both suitors and enemies, has also caused them to become rather isolated from the rest of the tribe.
Farah Ak-Adar
The tall, sinewy and golden-skinned Farah is a figure of growing reverence within Sietch Rajji, marked as the one who would one day replace Reverend Mother Rashka as Sayyadina. The two women, one young, one vastly older, are often side by side, whether in the privacy of Mother Rashka's quarters or presiding together during Sietch rituals and spice orgies.
Despite the double mantle she wears as future Sayyadina and sister of the Naib, Farah is warm and loving to her tribe, as much as a Fremen can be in any case, and enjoys a close relationship with her younger sister Lichna.
Likewise, she shares Kalmir's burning resentment of Harkonnens and offworlders in general, and is a skilled fighter in her own right.
Reverend Mother Rashka, Sayyadina of Sietch Rajji
No figure within Sietch Rajji is the subject of more awe and reverence than the ancient Sayyadina Rashka, shrouded in layers upon layers of myth and mysticism. Exactly how old she is nobody knows, but three whole generations have turned to her for religious guidance, which she continues to provide in spite of her prodigiously advanced age.
Her very origins are the object of local legend, the actual truth having been lost in the mists of time. It is said that Reverend Mother Rashka appeared one day in the deep desert and Shai Hulud himself obeyed her. She mounted him without hooks and he carried her to Sietch Rajji, depositing her gently on the sand before turning around and heading back into the open bled.
In reality, Rashka's presence at Sietch Rajji is a carefully coordinated effort on the part of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood to plant useful religious mysticism they would one day be able to exploit for their benefit. In her youth she was an agent of the Missionaria Protectiva sent to Arrakis to infiltrate the reclusive and little known Fremen natives for their purposes and one of the very few who succeeded.
Formidable though she is, Rashka nonetheless feels her end approaching and has decided to select a young women from among those she found suitable to train as her successor. That young woman is Farah Ak-Adar.
Rahmal Jabir
Being of the same age, Rahmal Jabir and Lichna Ak-Adar were schooled and played together as children, often part of the same group who used to hunt sandtrout in the sands near the Sietch walls.
They remained reasonably close during later years, Rahmal being one of the few single men Naib Kalmir does not object his sister associating with, although his stance would undoubtedly change should he become aware of the young man's budding romantic interest in Lichna. She, on the other hand, is very much aware of it, and so far has not responded to Rahmal's advances, reluctant to commit herself to any potential arrangement between them.
As for Rahmal, he remains optimistic, naively so according to some, and despite various suggestions that he should set his sights on someone more attainable he believes in time he can win Lichna's affections. This sometimes leads him to act impulsively and recklessly in order to impress her, though so far with mostly harmless consequences.
